Our Mission at Kaleida
Kaleida is a creative competition platform where artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, writers, photographers, and multidisciplinary creators showcase their talent through themed challenges and eventually earn monetary rewards, opportunities, and industry recognition.
Meet the Founder
Growing up, Kristine was always creating something. Whether it was painting the walls of her room, doing nail art, sketching fashion ideas, making up jingles, or practicing the flute, creativity was always calling her in different forms.
When Kristine went to university for architecture, she was introduced to the world of design competitions. At first, it felt exciting. The first competition she participated in was through her university, where she designed a food kiosk with a partner for a studio project. They ended up winning a cash prize, and that experience stayed with her. It showed her how powerful creative opportunities and recognition could be.
After that, she wanted to continue entering competitions, but quickly realized that many of them required expensive entry fees or “buy-ins.” As a college student, those costs made opportunities feel out of reach. Later, as an adult, Kristine realized another challenge: time. When your time is tied to survival, it becomes difficult to justify paying money to enter a competition when there’s no guarantee of winning or even being seen.
That barrier to entry planted the idea for Kaleida.
Kristine wanted to create a platform where creativity could be accessible to everyone, not just those who could afford the entry fee. A space where students, emerging creatives, and professionals could all compete on equal ground without financial limitations holding them back.
That’s why our competitions are free to enter. Instead of relying on participant fees, prize money is funded through community donations from people who believe in supporting creatives and investing in untapped talent. Here at Kaleida, we want supporters to feel like they are directly investing in creative futures.
We believe creativity exists everywhere, in people from every background, skill level, and financial situation. Just because someone cannot afford to enter a competition does not mean they lack talent, innovation, or vision.
Too much creativity goes unseen because of paywalls.
Our mission is to help remove those barriers and build a more inclusive creative community, one where opportunity is based on imagination and effort, not financial access.
Opportunity should be inspired by talent, not limited by cost.
